Introduction Thank you for visiting the Rivers of Recovery ROR website. Although we are just getting started, we will “hit the ground running” when our initial program begins in June. As Rivers of Recovery has grown from the germination stage to its current state, I have had the good fortune to receive suggestions and input from across all age groups, backgrounds and industries. Everyone involved embraced the belief that we could offer recreational programs which provide enjoyment and a kind of “nourishment for the soul.” We have created the only program of its kind in the United States. ROR’s 2008 programs will each feature a 3-night, 2-day fishing trip on the Green River in Utah. Many fishing enthusiasts know that the Green is one of the world’s finest blue ribbon trout fisheries. The extraordinary angling combined with the spectacular scenery of the Red Canyon leaves an indelible impression. Many people who visit this area say that it inspires a sense of optimism and a strengthening of resolve. We hope to provide our participants with a similar feeling. Our program is remarkable only in its simplicity: The veterans and families become an extension of our family. We provide an environment which encourages interaction while also allowing ample time to just “be.” The fishing trip offers a chance to learn new skills and expand horizons. Yet the importance is not fishing, but the experience itself. Please have a look around and return to this website often, as updates and news will be rapidly forthcoming. In the meantime, if you have any questions about Rivers of Recovery, please e-mail me at dan@riversofrecovery.org. Thank you and enjoy!
